As we all move into the summer season, we want to have an honest conversation about summer holidays.

Are we really to believe the gaslighting from those in power and within the education system, that missing even one day of school completely cripples a child? Is the education system really that fragile? Are children so helpless without teachers watching over them constantly?

Or is it simpler than that. The same government that refuses to legislate against price gouging during the summer holidays is making substantially more money from those price increases. Summer peak prices run up to 60% higher than May half-term, and August flights can cost 167% more than the cheapest month to fly. That’s not a coincidence, it’s an education tax on families who have no choice but to travel when school says so.

And it’s the same government that will fine you hundreds for wanting to save that money by travelling off-peak. In Lincolnshire alone, 3,332 penalty notices were issued to parents in a single year for taking their children on holiday. Nationally, nearly 460,000 fines were handed out last year for the same “crime.”

It is nothing short of heartless, to pile even more money problems onto struggling parents over something as harmless as a family holiday.

They claim family holidays will damage a child’s education. Frankly, we know that to be ridiculous.

What’s actually damaging is fining parents who cannot afford peak-season travel costs, leaving some families unable to take a holiday at all.

Are holidays a requirement of modern life? No. But in a world where more and more stress and homework is lumped onto children and teens, and where parents are stretched thinner and budgets made tighter, is it too much to ask for some dedicated time to rest, recharge, and yes, have a bit of fun?

Restore Britain pledges to scrap these unreasonable rules and allow every family up to five days of authorised term-time leave each year, giving parents and children the chance to spend quality time together, explore new places, and create lifelong memories.

It’s just plain and simple common sense. Please share this if you agree.

Time for another update, this time for June 2026. With this being the second full month that the local branch has existed, we’ve been getting a good amount done.

Some of the most exciting things we can share with you all were members of the team heading down to London for a strategy day with other Restore members from up and down the country. A fantastic event for getting like-minds together, learning more from those at the forefront of this movement, developing local strategy and getting to meet and hear from the big names. Likewise many local members joined in the support for the Makerfield by-election, once again meeting hundreds of other Restore members and expanding the local network outside of just Lincoln.

Over June, we leafletted a nice neat 100 streets allowing us to get the message into easily over 1000 homes. If you’ve seen the leaflet through your door, that was hand delivered by one of our brilliant local volunteers in their own free time.

In a recent poll nearly 25% of voters questioned didn’t know about Restore Britain. It’s our aim to break past the media and let you judge for yourself.

At our first See It, Sort It day, we removed just over 7 full bin bags worth from the West Common area, and had some promising conversations with interested and curious people and showed real presence in the area. We have however had recommendations for areas that need more support, and will be making the rounds and keeping you up to date on that.

See it, Sort it.

A lot of admin is needed for any new local branch. We’ve got our main team together and are delegating tasks like leafletting, policy writing, social media and more to small focused teams, expanding internal communications, researching FOI strategy, pulling together stats for campaign content, and setting up photo and document organisation. All the drawn out but absolutely necessary things for ensuring we keep this branch moving forward effectively as we grow in size.

We also had our third branch meeting, with great open communication between all people involved and announcing the beginning of our Local Priorities document which will be shared once ready. All our local members have had direct involvement letting us know what the real issues affecting them are, as well as them directly reviewing the first draft of the document. Once complete, this will outline the things we want to tackle in and around Lincoln and how being part of Restore Britain will enable us to do that.

If any of this sounds like something you want to be part of, get in touch with the branch directly, whether that’s to find out more about us or the party, help out with leafletting, or join us for a litter picking session, we’d love to hear from you. And if you’re not already, follow us on our socials and give our posts a share, it all helps get the message further than the media will.

We will put Lincoln first and Restore Britain.

After our first meeting at the end of April, we’ve spent May steadily rolling out projects, developing ideas and taking stock, allowing us to finally bring you our first monthly update.

The first step is establishing our online presence. We’ve been busy creating our social media accounts, reserving our website domain, putting placeholders in place and planning our wider social strategy. While this is still in its infancy, we’re steadily building the systems that we’ll use to communicate important updates, local issues and practical solutions to you all.

WHERE LINCOLN COMES TO BE HEARD.

While our online presence is important to getting the message out, real-world action remains the most important part of our work.

We’ve been hard at work, whether rain or sun, to get the Restore Britain leaflets in your letterboxes. Many people still don’t know that Restore Britain is even an option, let alone that branches such as our Lincoln Branch have already been established in hundreds of constituencies across the country. We’ve set up an internal leafletting tracker, and I’m delighted to say that over the last month alone, our small team of five volunteer leafletters have completed 474 streets and over 3,000 homes, apartments and flats across the wider Lincoln area.

GETTING THE MESSAGE INTO PEOPLES HOMES.

Alongside leafletting, we’ve started some of our local initiatives. With a play on the familiar phrase “See it, Say it, Sorted”, we want to cut out the middleman. “See it, Sort it” has become one of our initiatives. We no longer want to live in a country that breeds apathy, and rebuilding civic responsibility is the first step towards changing that. We are encouraging everyone who feels the same way to sort it when you see it, whatever that may be.

While on the surface it might seem like just another litter-picking group, it’s much more important than that, because we are backed by a national effort to change the culture. Other groups focus only on the surface-level problems of litter, graffiti and fly-tipping, while Restore Britain aims to address the underlying causes. Rubbish is thrown in our parks and rivers, graffiti is sprayed across homes and historic buildings and mounds of fly-tipping appear because we’ve collectively lost respect for this great country and the communities within it. We could invest unlimited time and money into clean-up projects and still be fighting a losing battle if we fail to change the attitudes and behaviours that allow these problems to continue. Restore Britain believes meaningful national renewal begins with rebuilding pride, responsibility and civic duty.

CHANGE STARTS WELL BEFORE THE BALLOT BOX.

And lastly, we’ve also been taking stock. Many of us are new to local politics, but we’ve all seen the issues and finally feel that a party is able to represent us. Over the coming months we will build up a database of known issues, resolve them immediately where we can, and escalate to the appropriate authorities when we can’t, and keep you all up to date with a tracker on our website. We want to be completely transparent on what we do and achieve and what we fail to even make a dent in, because then we will know once we have power, what needs addressing the most.

We want our work and campaigns to always remain visible, our people approachable, and our message clear.

We will put Lincoln first and Restore Britain.

LOCAL PEOPLE. LOCAL ACTION. LOCAL CHANGE.

We are ordinary, hard-working Lincoln residents. Not career politicians, not anti-British activists. People who have been let down by the same system, frustrated by the same failures, and who finally have a party that doesn’t just name the problems but works toward genuine solutions.

We are part of a national movement that is already making its mark. Restore Britain is winning seats and turning heads, and local branches like ours are the reason why.

Every leaflet delivered, every street walked, every conversation had, every initiative started has come from people who believe Lincoln deserves better. No funding machines, no party apparatus. Just people who care.

We want Lincoln to be a place people are proud to call home — not just for the cathedral, the castle or the football, but for the streets they walk, the neighbours they know, the community they feel part of. That sense of belonging didn’t disappear overnight, and it won’t be rebuilt overnight. But it can be rebuilt.

We will put Lincoln first, always. We won’t pretend to have all the answers. We’re not yet versed in every local issue, and we want you to tell us where we’re needed. Our accountability is to this community, not to sponsors or Westminster.

You’ll see exactly what we do, what we can’t do and why. No spin, no silence.

We’ve already started. Initiatives are underway, volunteers are on the streets, and our first full monthly update follows next week with the details.

If you’re looking for something genuine, join us.

We will Restore Britain. We will put Lincoln first.
